OUR CONTENT HOME

Not every renovation is a total overhaul. When walls are structurally sound, the plumbing works where it is and the layout is functional, sometimes all a space needs is a refresh. That was the case with our client, Susan and Carl's, guest bathroom. Don't get me wrong. The before pictures are pretty rough, but the bones of this bathroom were great and just needed some TLC. **UPDATE: This renovation is now featured on Apartment Therapy. Check out the full coverage here.

We're a bit out of order here at Content. We recapped the reveal of Guest Room #2, before sharing Guest Room #1 with you. But, if you anything about John and I, its that we'd rather get it done (right) than follow formalities.  Anyway, here's the big reveal of Guest Room #1 BEFORE AFTER BEDSIDE TABLES: I bought these matching side tables at a barn sale. In all honesty, I was going to paint them, but since I was crunched for time, I dusted them off and that's about it. BEDSIDE LAMP: Amazon.com MANTEL DECOR: Per the usual, a mix of thrifted items. CURTAINS: Marshall's $19.99 for a set of 2. WALLS: Freshly painted Cloud White by Benjamin Moore OC-130 in a matte finish. CEILING: The ceiling in here has been previously drywalled between the beams. We used an Advanced White to freshen up the ceiling and left the exposed wood as it. TRIM: As with the rest of Content., we used Advanced White. So, wha...

During the initial design stages of the guest bathrooms, we decided to use our master bathroom as an inspiration. We continue to be pleased with the master bathroom renovation, and knew that repeating the vanity and countertop design would bring continuity throughout the house. However, we were looking to scale the cost of the vanity down a bit, and instead of using bluestone as the vanity top again, decided to use poured concrete.

Taking a look back, and realize I never gave you a full look at the before and after of our Master Bathroom. So, here is the entire run down including all the before and after shots, which I know you all enjoy so much! And, UPDATE: You can now see this before + after featured on Apartment Therapy!

Renovating any room of the house can be pretty annoying. Dust, construction debris, hazardous equipment. But the renovation of a bathroom quite literally messes with basic human needs, and that my friends is no fun... John's sister Kristen is currently undergoing a bathroom renovation which has me excited to see her (my FIL Dave's) progress but nervous how even a minor setback could effect her. Knowing my father-in-law though, I'm certain they're right on schedule. Unlike Content. renovations that seem to have a mind of their own. Nonetheless, the ensuite bathroom of guest room #2 is finished!

Maybe you've seen a similar cart for sale or already own one? It is an audio visual cart typically found in classrooms, used as a projector stand. See the plug on the top right corner shelf? I love these carts! I love how utilitarian they are, and the clear resin wheels. I also love that they are fairly easy to come across (for cheap) and have about a zillion practical uses. Sadly, I can not remember where I found this particular cart (I have the worst memory). "John, where'd I get this cart!?" Over the past few months, I've seen them everywhere! Most recently, on friends front porches holding houseplants (Hi Andrea & Veronica!) and just this past weekend at a garage sale covered with tools. My cart was in rough shape though, and can be seen in some of our past kitchen renovation pictures, collecting dust, awaiting its time to shine.  And now, that time has come. I usually hold out for second hand pieces that are in pretty go...
