LIFE AT CONTENT: 3 Easy Halloween Decorating Ideas

I have said it before, and I will say it again: I love Halloween! It's such a nonsense holiday.

October 31 was originally marked as the ancient, Celtic new year, BUT nowadays it's all tricks & treats. Plus, there's no family obligation. No travel. No gift giving. No special recipe you've been bequeathed to recreate (just like Grandma used to make).
Aside from deciding on a costume (for you or your family), there's no pressure. Think about it. Just a bunch of nonsense, and tons of fun sized chocolate.
For the past 10 years, John and I have hosted (in some capacity) a Halloween party. This will be our 2nd party here at Content. If you want to check out some of our past Halloween party tips, here's another post on the subject.
This year, we're sharing 3 Easy Halloween Decorating Ideas that are not only simple to exe…

LIFE AT CONTENT: Fall Chicken Sausage Skillet

Full disclosure, I am not a cook. That's to say, I feel pretty unmotivated in the kitchen and spend less than .05% of my week making meals.

Thinking back to my twenties, there was a period of time when I prepared the same meal for myself, every night, for months. And didn't think twice about it.
I have a simple pallet, but more importantly, I am a lazy cook Hell, if you ever chatted with me at a party, you'll learn two things. 1. I hate to drink water and 2. John does all the cooking at Content.

ROUND UP: Airbnb Super Host Must Haves

Believe it or not, we're rounding out Content's 2nd summer season, hosting guests on Airbnb!

We have learned a lot and from time-to-time receive questions from friends and followers about our  Hosting experience. Seems like more and more people are considering opening up their homes, which is awesome to see this amazing community grow!

DIY: Front Door Painting Trick

One of the easiest project you can DIY this Spring is repainting your front door. A fresh coat of paint, on the front door, can help your entry way take on any personality.

LIFE AT CONTENT: Roasted Brussels Sprouts

The Brussels sprout. Why do I always forget about the Brussels spout? It could be because their technically cabbage, and I really dislike cabbage (unless my Mom is making it for St. Patrick's Day).

But when I do manage to get some in my shopping cart, I'm instantly reminded how quick and easy they are to prepare.

RENOVATION: Oak Kitchen Countertop and Backsplash

This is a blast from the past post, which basically means: I wrote the post a LONG time ago, and for whatever reason, never pressed "publish" for your reading enjoyment. Anyway, I love our wood countertops, and felt like even though the project was completed long ago, the context was still on point for sharing. Enjoy!

For the last year (2016), we have continued to tackle 50 step, complex projects within Content. Somewhere in the spring though, rooms were more or less livable, and those lofty projects gave way to simply trying to finish at least 1 room in the house, 100%.

Funny as that sounds, I cannot with all certainty, claim that even one room in Content is completely done. I think this is the blessing and curse of a DIYer. You get to control the speed of your projects, but you also can procrastinate the hell out of them too.

Just the other day, John presented me with one of these to-do lists for the master bathroom and bedroom. Entitled "FINAL TO-DO" it had all…

RENOVATION REVEAL: South Street Kitchen

Happy Friday Everyone! Though we're always excited for the weekend, we are even more excited to share the reveal of the South Street kitchen renovation project with you!

RENOVATION REVEAL: Susan and Carl's Pink Tile Guest Bathroom

Not every renovation is a total overhaul. When walls are structurally sound, the plumbing works where it is and the layout is functional, sometimes all a space needs is a refresh. That was the case with our client, Susan and Carl's, guest bathroom.

Don't get me wrong. The before pictures are pretty rough, but the bones of this bathroom were great and just needed some TLC.

**UPDATE: This renovation is now featured on Apartment Therapy. Check out the full coverage here.

HOSTING: Blogging For Creative Entrepreneurs with Idalia Education

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming an amazing group of workshop attendees to Blogging for Creative Entrepreneurs hosted by Alex Peterson of Idalia Education.

RENOVATION: South Street Kitchen (Before)

As some of you may have seen on the Content + Company Instagram feed, we've been working with our clients on the #southstreetkitchenreno for the past 3 months, but believe it or not, this project has been a year in the making.

Let's back up to early 2017, when Mark and Marie contacted John to build them a custom dining room table.

During our very first meeting, with the then engaged-to-be-married couple, Mark and Marie showed us around their beautiful, c. 1910 home. Full of charm and character, the previous owners had only made minor upgrades to the house. That night, seated at a humble folding table, Mark and Marie shared with us their plans for upgrading the house, with hopes of entertaining friends and family. Mark was ready to cook and we were ready to help!
Even in full wedding planning mode, Mark and Marie were eager to discuss their priority, post-nuptial project - the Kitchen.
And now, exactly 1-year from that very first meeting, we are wrapping up a full kitchen reno…
